Black Canyon Regional Land Trust is pleased to offer this special activity to all attendees of Western Slope Rural Philanthropy Days. We invite you to join us on a guided walk of the Potter Ranch, a working cattle operation and scenic historic homestead located seven miles north of Ouray off of Highway 550. Learn about the rich history of ranching in the Ouray and greater San Juan Mountain region, the importance of preserving habitat for native plants and animals within the spectacular Uncompahgre Valley, and the challenge of conserving scenic open lands adjacent to the nationally acclaimed San Juan Skyway scenic byway. This walk offers a boots-on-the-ground introduction to the local conservation work of Ouray County landowners, community members, and the Black Canyon Regional Land Trust—a nonprofit organization participating in this year’s Western Slope RPD.

Please wear closed toed shoes, comfortable clothes and bring water, hat, sunscreen, camera—all those Colorado essentials.
